I DOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
I prefer the tension of the high E string being shorter, and the low E rings better to me on a reverse head. Plus, it looks goofy. Look at all the "classic" Robin images on the site....REVERSE HEADS, BABY!!!!
Grandpa Dave and Allen the Elf keep telling me I can't have reverse heads. Any other fans out there, HELP A FRIGGIN GUY OUT!!!!
Pile on, let's get the option back.

I like them.
I think having the tuners on the bottom of the headstock makes the guitar easier to tune. When the tuners are on top, you have to twist your arm and hand over the headstock to reach the tuners. When the tuners are on the bottom, you just slide your hand down to the headstock and grab the tuner.

You make it sound so........dirty.

I'm a new guy here first post, and I really hope the don't get rid of the reverse headstock,to me that's what make's a Robin a Robin. And the blade design is one of the coolest ever.

They still do the reverse "blade" headstocks on the Medley series.
The Ranger series used to have the "straight" reverse headstocks. They stopped doing these around 94 or 95. If you click on my name to the left, you will see a Ranger guitar and Ranger bass with reverse headstocks and transparent purple finishes.

There's one on eBay right now. It appears to be an all-original, orange, 91 Ranger Custom with vibrato. The vibrato option is more rare than the hardtail. Here's the link:

I'm pretty sure that's one I used to have. A little hard to tell from the pic on ebay but I'm pretty sure it's the same one as pictured here:

Note the woodgrain near the low E side of the saddle. Fairly sure it's the same piece.
If it is the same one, it's also pictured in the 92 Catalog (see the www.robinguitars.com (http://www.robinguitars.com) vintage section...)

From the Robin site....
[VG: The photo of you in the updated version of American Guitars shows you with the first Robin guitar; in addition to the reverse Explorer headstock, it appears to have a bound, Strat-shaped body.
DW: Exactly; that’s an’ 82 guitar. Due to copyrights, we couldn’t do a traditional looking Strat copy. We were definitely the first to have a reverse headstock on a bolt on neck; Firebirds were sort of reversed but had banjo type tuners. There wasn’t any “deep” marketing concept behind the reverse headstock; we just thought it looked cool. We couldn’t tell that there was any audible difference; it was strictly visual. I know some companies since then have said that a longer string length on the bass side gives a different sound, but our headstock was marketed for its aesthetics.
The two things that are true about a reverse headstock is that it goes “against the grain” of what players had been conditioned to seeing, which is exactly what we were trying to accomplish, but a reverse headstock on a guitar is also easier to tune; a player’s arm doesn’t have to twist like it does on a conventional headstock.]
Save my arm from twisting, Davey boy!

Reverse headstocks are one of the features that defined the Robin revolution! Retro is hip right now,so here's your chance to capatalize on the trend.Come on Mr.Dave. Get R Done!(is anyone sick of that phrase yet?)If so I'll do my best to stop.

I'm bringing this old thread back from the dead!
I own a Ranger with a reverse headstock. It's my #1 guitar--plays great, sounds great, and has the coolest look. When I see all the non-reverse Rangers, I tend to try to ignore the standard headstock--it's just SOO ugly!!
I would love to buy another Ranger one day when I have the money, but there is absolutely no way I would buy a non-reverse.

In the early 90's I met Dave Wintz at a NAMM show--I told him how much I dug Robins, especially the Ranger, and asked if I could order one with a non-reverse headstock (at the time, reverse ones were all they did). He felt that the reverse headstock was sort of an identifying feature of Robin guitars and didn't really want to change at that time. I was glad to see the switch to the non-reverse head as it's much easier to change strings on one. However, it might be nice to offer the reverse as an option for those who like it, if it's feasible from a production standpoint.

Persistent little bastard that Greg! That's why we love him. He may not kick your ass right away, but he delivers in the end.
The chant goes out amongst the Robin faithful:
"Tremelo, Tremelo, Tremelo".
On the reverse headstock Ranger that is.

Plenty of charters down here, just a matter of getting the # of heads and date. I'd be suprised if DW could resist ........... ya'll come!
I was just out on the porch, slaying some "specs" with a Corona.
