HamStd from the HFC sent me an email on that one a few days ago.

These were the last guitars that Tokai made for Robin. The designation of RR-50 is incorrect. There never has been a model called "RR-50" (there was a model called the RG-50). The model designation is simply "Robin Ranger". ESP later made the "Ranger Custom" (a three pickup model) and the Houston-made guitars are "Ranger Standard" and "Ranger Custom". The Tokai Ranger is the only Ranger with this particular pickup and pickup selector (3-way) configuration. It appears to be all original. $450 is a good price for one of these in excellent condition (as Gruhn has it graded). I'm currently in "down-sizing" mode or else I would jump on it. I've never played one of these that isn't killer. I've had three (and still have two) and all have been great players.

Yeah - I saw the "50" designation in Gruhn's description and thought to myself "Wow, George Gruhn DOESN'T know everything about ALL guitars!".

If memory serves me correctly, the pricelist from when these guitars were new (c. 1983) listed the Ranger as the "RR". I'll check that and post back later.
