I have a 2004 Bad Cat Hot Cat 15 (Mint) that I am offering up for a possible trade for a Robin guitar. I would like a Robin : Artisan , flying V, explorer ,Medley,Machette. Must be in excellent condition or better.
My other option is for a trade towards a brand new Machette Pro (From a Dealer)with two single coils, strung thru the back, ebony fretboard.
Anyone interested can call me at 269-388-3354.
thankyou for your time,
Johnnny

Thats a very cool guitar , but I am a bit of a shred head , very narrow minded and one tracked with my instruments.Thankyou for the inquiry..;-)

I understand the Johnny,
I would struggle with it myself.
It is absolutely one of the coolest guitars I've ever played or owned but no matter how I try I'm not a big P90 fan. This guitar has been an off & on hero with me though...
As far as tubes go I prefer 6L6's overall. I generally find EL84's glassy instead of chimey.
We had a booth next to Bad Cat at the NAMM shows for a couple years there. I've dealt with Mark Sampson off & on. Nice guy. My (former) Buddy who built the amps http://www.siegmundguitars.com/ was always jealous with the Badcat guy... rightfully so.
I'd like to try one out at home but I don't think I'd go too far out of my way to get an EL84 amp.
I bet it's great though.
Best of luck to you

Chris Siegmond makes some really cool high end amplification (as well as guitars/other gadgets). He currently is making a nice little amplifier with a microtube.I have spoken with him on a few occassions . I was interested in one of his single ended output stage amps a few years ago.One of those nice smaller wattage killers that you just crank and let the output stage sing like T-rex in heat ;-)
I will check out the elf material ...
Thankyou

Yea,
Chris made his first tube stomp box for me. I
asked him for a replica of the preamp in my
1955 Tweed Deluxe. He told me I was out of my
mind. Why would anybody want such a thing ..
He's pretty old fashioned.
He finally built it for me as I wanted with 2
x 12ax7's & a seperate volume & tone for each
plate of each tube. It also had a patch bay
on the back so I could determine my own
signal path. It was class A. Man did we ever
learn a lot about tubes & preamp gain stages
with that thing. I was able to try tubes of
all vintages & how they interacted & how
running their plates in series or parallel
would effect distortion & harmonics.
It ended up translating into the Micro Tube
Overdrive & then further into the Double
drive of today. He was working at Groove
Tubes back then & he tried out a couple of
the mini tubes that they were putting into
the tube mics over there... I actually prefer
lower gain tubes ... like 12au7's when
stacked. Their is a lower gain Mic tube out
there than the one he's using which is so
much better... but they're more expensive &
Chris doesn't feel the public has the sense
to realize it. They have a smoother response.
I never really cared for the Micro ... To me
it's like an EL84 ... glassy ... (I just
prefer the range & warnth of American type
tubes) ... even though he did use my
suggestions for creating it's signal path
based on how I would patch mine together to
get acceptible tones within realistic ranges
I just didn't care much for it's overall
sound.
We ended up having a falling out several
years ago when he built me a custom amp to
drive my Leslie's. My amp is actually the
Prototype for the Midnight Blues that won him
the Guitar Player Editor's Pick ... but I had
him modify the first stage with an Octal in
mine. We used Octal Preamp tubes combined
with 12ay, au, all of them ... my preference
is actually 6cg7's when really pushed hard
(the GP award winner was all 12ax7's since
their the most common) We also experimented
the same way with all of the various models
available & how to run their signal path. He
was supposed to use all paper & oil caps ...
I opened it up & it was all polypro
mallory's. Much less expensive to build. He
never did give me what I paid for (money &
time to me was no factor) & it was a pretty
hard let down that after years of doing shows
together he would try to rip me off.
Be careful with him. I've seen him pull bait
& switch a few times on people but I just
never thought he'd do it to me.
Anymore I use Jerry Blaha. www.ampcrazy.com (http://www.ampcrazy.com)
He was Tony Iommi's amp tech for many years
on the road.
He is a real amp guru & he's very honest &
straightforward.

Oh hey I just want to mention.
Jerry's Wah Wah pedals are THE BEST.
Their used by Prince, Michael Schenker,
GUNS & ROSES, Zakk Wylde,
THE CULT
... God knows who else.
I went through a couple Teese Wah's & even
had Geoffrey modify one of my older Thomas
Organ Wah's & they just never had the magic.
I gave the old Thomas to Jerry & WOW...
I'm telling you... If you want the very best
Wah send him an Old Thomas or Vox Wah & when
you get it back you'll never play anything else.
It's like $110 for the mod I believe but it's some of the best $110 I've ever spent.
