Why anybody would put Gibson pickups in there I just don't know....

Man if you've waited this one is killer.

Looks like a satin finished pro.

I saw that auction, I would have jumped on it if it weren't for those crappy pickups.

As far as the p-ups are concerned; mom always told me that some people's taste was only in their mouth!

Hey Darren,
I happily paid twice that for mine ... Of course mine spoke to me from the great beyond & drug me in... heh heh

A change in pickups would only cost a couple hundred more.

It's a freakin steal... plus you could sell the Gibson pickups to a crusty mud fan for good $$

Ya know Randy ... that's what it looks like from the back... the top sure is nice...

It kinda hurts me that these gems can go so cheap. It's a let down. It took me a LOT of trial & error to find a guitar as good as my Avalon & man I just would never part with it.

I can't ... it's like my left testicle...

I asked the seller if it has a satin finish and he said that it does. So is it a Pro since it has the satin finish or a Classic since it has binding? The auction description also states a chambered body, but that may just be copied from the Robin Classic specs ...

It certainly smells of Classic to me.I don't think they would have wasted a flamed body like that on a Pro,but I've been wrong before.Satin finishes are avaliable on all Robin products as an option,so it may be a satin Classic. Buy it,sell the Gibson pickups,re-install Rio's,and have an awesome guitar for dirt cheap.Just a thought.

I just "stole" this guitar. It got re-listed for a $1000 buy it now price. The next day he dropped it to $950 shipped. I couldn't take it anymore. I've always wanted an Avalon. I was going to try to get the Pro because of the price. This guitar is kinda like the Pro with a sweet flame top. And half the price. I usually don't get this lucky.

good jub, the first order of business is to replace the pickups with some Rio Grande pickups. I bet you could yank those Gibby's out and sell them on ebay for a decent chunk of change.

Hey man congratulations!
I kept watching that one come back up.
I agree those pickup's wouldn't be my first choice but still you got one awesome guitar cheap.

I love the Genuine Texas & BBQ's in mine.

Good luck with it.

Did some more digging. Dave at Robin said he thinks its a Pro with a top upgrade. The guy I got it from said he got it from Rockin Robin in Houston. Bijan from RR said he thinks it was the guitar that started the Pro line. Kindd of a prototype. Thats cool. Its gonna be here tommorrow!!!

The warranty card says it all. Avalon Pro - Vintage Yellow. Flame Top Upgrade. This is a sweet guitar. Man did I ever get a deal on it. Does anyone know if the Pro line has a thinner body? This one is thinner than the Avalon Classic I saw before.

Now put the right pickups under the hood and GO MAN GO!
