...I can now say what the result of putting Kinmans into a Medley is: satisfactory. I have a Medley limited edition with Kahler bridge, locking nut, thru mahogany neck and maple over mahogany body. The pickups that came in it (e-Bay buy) were EMG and were sad. I replaced the middle and neck with the '62 and '56 Kinman Strat AVn, respectively. The bridge has a Duncan JB which is coil tapped and controlled with a separate volume. I can add in a little or a lot of the humbucker with the Kinmans together or separately. The result is very good. The JB is powerful and clear when split. The Kinmans are very clear and clean. They are strong and well balanced, though not 'woody' as in an alder Strat. They make a good combination with the JB and I can tell you they are silent!
This guitar can get a good range of blues to rock sounds and even a good 'Buckaroo' sound, (though Don Rich's Tele would be difficult to match...). Over all, it is a good fit. Would I pick Rio Grandes if I had it to do over? Maybe, but I have 3 Ranger Customs, so I don't have to pick 'either or'.

Kinman pickups are awesome!
I have a set in a Schecter/WD parts Strat that I built.
They're very quiet, very powerful, and not at all "soul-less" as I have found the EMG singles to be.
