I bought a Robin recently and I would like to know more about it, since I'm not really familiar with Robin guitars. I have played some Rio Grande pickups before and I knew they were associated with Robin, and that is what got me curious about the guitar that I bought, that and it sounded "too good" through a Boogie Subway Rocket w/reverb.
I was told that it was an 80's model, a Raider/Ranger?, possibly a Tokai. It has a reverse headstock (which I really don't like on any guitar but I'll live with it here), an upside down Strat-like body, 3 single-coil pups, a Kahler tremolo which seems to be stock, and the serial # is 11019. It is a cream white that has turned mellow yellow and I don't think it was played after it left the store; no belt buckle rash, no nothing really. I like it, although the frets are too small and I will shortly replace them with Dunlop 6150 wire as I did my SG recently.
By the way, in my short acquaintance with Robin guitars I have already found my favorite; an SG look-alike with a maple top and a thicker body. They are really cool. The necks are too fat for my hand but I like them anyway. What are they?
