Hi dave,

the ranger on the left is similar to mine which I bought second-hand. If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me what year it is and how much you paid for it new, if you remember? Are the pickups all original?

Hey Joshua,

I picked up that guitar used (in fact, all three of those were used)... That one was all stock, and I think was a guitar featured in the 92 catalog... That's the only guitar of those three that I don't still own. I have another Ranger Custom that's a newer piece, and wound up rotating out of that one.

I did see your note about the one you bought on Ebay... should be a nice player, and pricewise it was about right, considering the scuffs and the pickups. I think the one you bought was pre-Rio Grande, so it should be a nice setup with the Virtual Vintage. (Sidenote: I've had other older Rangers and there were never any flies on those pickups, either!)

thanks, dave, should be getting it tomorrow, can't wait! What year did they start using the Rio Grande pickups? And one more question, when I get the guitar and have the serial number, will there be a way that I can finally lock down what year it is?
