hell-o
i'm an ESP-addict and mostly play esp customshop axes, but one day ('bout 2 years ago) i saw this guitar on ebay (germany) and wanted to have it, but couldn't afford it.
now 2 years later the very same guitar was for sale again, and i took my chance.

i love it!
it plays and sounds just perfect, like on a good esp it felt like home the first time i touched it.

there are only 2 li'l points i don't like about this guitar:
1. the trem, it's a terrible robin trem (takeushi) , the same one i found once on a cheapo washburn. (it's only got the robin label). so i'm gonna replace it

2. the pocket for the neck is not perfect, theres an almost 1mm gap between the neck and the pocket, but despite that it's very stable, and not really a minus ('cept for a perfectionist like i am)http://robinlovers.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif

sorry for my english, i hope your're able to understand me anyway http://robinlovers.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif
so, heres the beauty (i'll try to make some pics of the flamed neck):

Is this a USA-made guitar? It would say so on the headstock.

If it doesn't say that, it was made in Japan by ESP.

yes, it'S usa-made, it has the stamp "handcrafted in texas" on the back of the headstock and "made in usa" written on the front. it wasn't made by esp.

i just used the term "esp-addict" to describe what kind of guitars i like and as a part of my introduction, didn't wanna say it's esp-made ;)

Cool. I didn't get the impression that you thought it was made by ESP. I was just letting you know that ESP made a lot of guitars for Robin in the years preceding the Houston, TX shop. I've seen many ESP-made Robin Medleys over the years. They are great guitars - not as great as the Houston models though!

kewl, so i'm lucky http://robinlovers.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif

didn't tokai build axes for robin, too?

Tokai built the very first models a couple of years before ESP. Any 21-fret Robin with a gold logo is a Tokai. A 22-fret gold logo Robin was made by ESP. All the guitars in the first catalog were made by Tokai, seen here:

great, thx for the info!!
robin guitars are not very known in germany (in fact i've never met anybody who knows the brand), so i'm pleased to learn more about these great guitars.

Great deal for an early Houston guitar.

yeah, and it included the original case and was in nearly mint condition.

wow!!
just replaced the pj marx with an emg 85, and took this babe to the band rehearsal...

....BLOWN AWAY!
not only talking about me, but also 'bout the bass player and the other guitarist http://robinlovers.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif i had to roll the bass pot back about 50% in order not to risk a fight with our bass-player, and he's 20kg heavier than me http://robinlovers.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif

no, really, this axe rocks, as mentioned before i love the esp guitars, but the ash body has so much more punch than the alder of my other bolt-ons , it's incedible!
it has as much low-end-punch as my neck-thru esps and the sl-1, and that with a bolt-on-neckhttp://robinlovers.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif

this thing sounds bigger than a les paul!

so i'm really satisfied, and hope i'll find another one on ebay soon (almost impossible in germany
).

i wish it had a neck-hb.

so, if n e 1 has a medley (2 hb, neck-thru would be perfect) to offer and is willing to ship to germany, please contact me http://robinlovers.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif
