Hi!
Robert at The Custom Shop in Austin, TX recommended that i fill one of my strats with Rio Grandes. I went with the "Mid-Bottom" set (2 Talls and a 1/2 Breed). Awesome! I love 'em! :hail:

Now i am fixing-up another guitar. I'm thinking about mixing 1 Muy and 1 Halfbreed. Your website pictures seem to show that the Muy's pole-pieces are larger in diameter than the Tall's and 'Breed's. Is this correct? Just curious, but very interested in that kind of stuff :D.

And, if i pop a Muy in the bridge position of a Fender Mustang, and a Breed at the neck, will they coincide in power-sound output when i run them in phase and out of phase?

I'm guessing that i won't need to "tap" the Muy, 'cuz the Mustang's switches can change the outputs in/out of phase, . . . or is that in/out of series? . . . or are they the same thing? . . . or . . . Got Clarification?:o

COOL! Thanks! :hail:

Howdy,

You'll probably love the halfbreed/muy combo. I have a guitar with a Halfbreed in the neck and a Muy Grande 'bucker in the bridge... I have the Muy Grande with a coil tap so that that I can get that out of phase sound between the pickups as well... That'll probably be the scariest Mustang you've ever heard...

Thanks for your reply, Smitty.

-But ARE the Muy pole-pieces larger than the other pickups' polepieces?
-And is it a waste not to tap a Muy using it's own separate switch (other than the Mustang's original switches)?
-Can your guitar with the Muy and 1/2 Breed serve more than 1 class of music with that set-up (is it ONLY a hard rocking guitar? What about Hot Blues?).

Thanks for your time and input!

Oh sorry, yes the Muy Grande pole pieces are bigger. Those pickups just sound BIG. is you swapped the halfbreed in your Strat for a Muy, you'd say "it's bigger."

On your Mustang project, are you talking about a Muy Grande single coil or bucker?? (I assumed single coil...) If it's the bucker, by all means tap it...put in a push/pull tone knob and be done...

I may have a mustang wiring diagram somewhere... lemme look tonight.

The halfbreed/muy combo will still have great cleans and will definitely be a hot blues guitar. Certainly not a one-trick pony by any stretch...

Smitty,
Thanks for the insite on the Muy-Halfbreed sounds.
Yeah, I'm planning on using a single coil Muy.
I do very much appreciate your looking around for a Mustang wiring diagram!
Thanks again!
