The headless Robins appeared in the early 90s. I've only seen 2 in person. I saw my first headless Robin in the hands of Doug Sahm in 1991 during a Texas Tornados performance. Willie Nelson was playing the other one I've seen during his Fourth of July Picnic in 2003.

Now who else has a story about these?

Q: Who is Joe Jamail?

There was one for sale a couple years ago at Band Together Music in Humble, TX (Houston suburb...) I was thinking I had pics of it on here, but I don't see it. That guitar sold to Joe Jamail... (I was writing this and couldn't remember who bought it until Kiz brought it up...)

The one in Humble was a natural (or light amber) finish, so Joe may have more than one...

Watch the intro to the 1992 video at the Robin Guitars website. Here's a still from it:

When I was shooting this video, Dave told me the headless "Steinberger" guitars were being made for Joe Jamail. He's a plaintiff's attorney in Houston. I don't know who's picture that is on the website (Jamail's kid perhaps?). The entire Jamail family is one of the more prominent families in Houston.

There's also an amber colored one of these. I think that might be the one that was at that music store in Humble.
